Interview For Reception Class Teacher

Hey ho, i am asking this on behalf of a colleague who has just got her first headship. On thursday she is sending the letters to those lucky few who have an interview for the job of reception classteacher. She has asked me for ideas for a suitable lesson interview activity type thing, so i thought since my brain is sleepy and i have to give her some inpsiration tomorrow that i would ask you lovely people for any ideas? x x x

a phonics activity

outdoor physical skills activity

a piece of collaborative/small group/paired artwork

Hi, Phonics is always a good idea. When I was interviewed last year I was asked to teach phonics - also outdoor learning?

Whenever we interviewed for a teaching post we either specified an area of learning if it was a high criteria for selections, or we didn't specify one at all. I preferred the latter as it really shows who is creative in their thinking. We would state the group size (eg a small group or whole class) and the time eg 20 minutes. The rest was up to the candidate. We would then begin the interview with Why did you chose that activity?

What about a getting the children to interview the candidates? The way the candidates handle that wil be a real eye opener to their attitudes to children.
