AnonyMouse_832
Hi all- we are looking to add some new groups to our timetable for the coming year and wondered if anyone would be able to share what groups they have run that are successful We run the fairly standard things such as Stay and Play, baby groups, mums and tums, etc but want some different ideas to liven things up a bit. Any suggestions? Edited December 2, 2009 by surfer
AnonyMouse_3139
Could you ask your families if there is anything they would particularly like? Cooking activities might be good if you've got the facilities, healthy eating, new menus, things to do at home together.
Guest
Our fitness/healthy eating groups are very popular with parents. The children go in a creche then everyone joins together to eat what the parents have made. Also the children love Tatty Bumpkin exercise classes. Our team is currently planning an art/craft/messy play group for parents to help them to understand why these activities are so important for their children's learning and development - so many of them say they don't want their child to get wet/dirty when atending groups. Guest
We run a group called 'Me Time' just for the parents. Our family support worker runs it and they do different things each week - such as craft activities like candle making, picture frame making, mosaics...They also visited our local college and had their hair and nails done for free. We provide a creche for the children and the parents seem to really enjoy having that time for themselves and doing something productive with it.
