What Are You Singing?

Jusy wondering what songs people sing on a regular basis for teaching children basic skills, concepts etc or just for fun!

The enormous crocodile - is a constant favourite..

 

(Tune of drunken sailor)

 

Im an enormous crocodile

sparkling teeth and a charming smile

come to near and in a while

you will be my dinner

1,2,3,4,5,

1,2,3,4,5,

1,2,3 snap snap

now I've had my dinner

 

 

along with 5 little monkeys swinging in a tree (or sitting depending on area you are in!)

 

just 2 of loads

hi

Here we go round the mulberry bush-this is the way we brush our hair, brush our teeth, put on our clothes!!

Head, shoulders,knees and toes,

Tommy thumb,

Row,row your boat,

If your happy and you know it clap your hands,

Twinkle,twinkle little star,

Hop little bunnies,

Two eyes to look at you,

Everybodys doing it,

Miss Polly had a dolly,

 

Just a few of the songs I sing on a daily basis!!!

At the moment

 

5 little snowmen, 5 little snowmen

ready to play, ready to play

the sun shone down on one of them

At a guess I wouls say it's I hear thunder tune but I could be wrong

Yes, I hear thunder! We sang it at least 5 times this morning, and the children can take it in turns to be the sun - they seem to immediately sense the "power" that the sun holds! We do get some very comical melting snowmen, it has been a great favourite for many years. We have headbands with snowman pictures cut out from christmas cards on and a big yellow sun made from card.

As I am working with lots of practitioners visiting the woods regularly we are singing this to the tune of Teddy Bear's Picnic

 

When we go down to the woods today

there’s going to be lots to do

When we go down to the woods today

we’re sure to learn something new

For everyone that goes there today

Will run, and jump and climb in their play

so we must all make sure we’re dressed in the right clothes

When we go down to the woods today

there’s going to be lots to do

Beneath the trees where nobody sees

We’ll hide and seek as long as we please

So we must all make sure we’re dressed in the right clothes

 

 

As we want to make sure all children come suitably dressed for the outdoors!!!!

Hmmm, that's a good one LornaW. It would be easy to adapt wouldn't it, swapping 'down in the woods' for whatever (if you see what I mean!)
