Guest
I'm just starting to do this (not done since 2006 but let's not mention that in the SEF!) Apparently it is meant to relate to the ECM outcomes whatever that means (I'm chair not staff). Is anyone willing to tell me what is in their operational plan as we seem to have odd stuff such as children's contact numbers which are surely confidential!? Thanks in advance. AnonyMouse_3139
Its supposed to be a file that tells anyone coming into your setting how you work. Your policies, procedures statements of intent. Ours also includes briefe details of events we've held, visits, outings etc. I'm not sure how its sorted at present, I think they put it into sections relating to the every child matters outcomes you refer to. There are 5 parts to it and each of our policies are filed against the headings. I couldnt rememebr the parts so went to google it and found a poster that might be helpful to others too. AnonyMouse_22106
My Early Years advisor told me (many years ago) it was our policies and procedures. Basically all the things that make the place tick, should the Leader/Manager disappear and that would inform someone else how to carry on. As long as they are all together in 1 file then that is your settings operational plan.

AnonyMouse_19762
I have had just had to fill in a questionnaire for our Development Worker and one of the questions was 'do you have an Operational Plan'? Have to say that is one part of my paperwork that I don't mind keeping 'up to date' - it helps me to be a little better organised!
