Hey, I'm starting my Level 4 this month and was wondering if anyone could tell me what's actually involved - how much evidence do you need for each unit i.e. is it all written answers or is there witness testimony's as well (how many??)

Also, if anyone has completed it how long did you take to do it?

Thanks

I think it depends on you and your assessor.

I did mine in a year, quite a lot of written especially on the theorists. I did a lot of mine with proffesional discussion where I would research and make notes and my assessor would ask me questions and record our discussions.

She visited me in my setting about 5 times, observed and looked and talked about the paperwork that I had implemented.

Hi, I've just started my NVQ4 and it's OK at the moment. Although yesterday i came across a question - Does your workplace reflect "positive images" of, and could you support:"

......A person of a "different" size or age..........Am i being dense - what does it mean? I'ts probably really obvious - but not to me at the moment !!! :o

Hmm, I'm guessing the 'questions' are ones set by your college or provider to generate evidence? There is nothing in the PC's or Knowledge which specifically talks about these points that I could see at a quick glance.

The only things I can think of are if you have children who are particularly plump or skinny, who may suffer from name calling. (Not come across this with preschoolers before personally!) Also, a group of slightly older children may try to exclude a younger child from playing with them saying that they don't play with 'babies'. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

I think you are right Beau - i had looked in the PC and knowledge and no reference there. Perhaps it's just the obvious things like making sure plant troughs, resources etc are at the height that everyone can reach - supplying a step if needed, etc and making sure resources are age appropriate. also making sure staff ratios with younger children are adhered to and planning for dif ages?

Would it relate to the posters/puzzles/roleplay and small world items, and images you have around the setting also - with images of older people and maybe people who are not within 'normal (whatever that word means) perameters hieght and weight wise etc. As well as that it could want you to consider how diverse your staff team is age wise ? Role play and costumes - different sizes to ensure all children can access them ( I am aware that some of our 'princess dresses' were too small for two of our children who are quite plump so went and found some in larger sizes. ) :o

or could it just want you to look at how you would provide for a staff member with limited mobility - different size - an older person maybe ? small chairs and childrens furniture don't lend themselves well to a larger bottom or cranky knees ( here speaks the word of experience :o )
