Guest
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has come across a inspiring poem on Outdoor Play? I'm sure I've seen/heard on which was realy god, but can't remember where I came across it. I wanted one to add to my 'Outdoor Display area'. Thanks so much Sunshine
Guest
Sunshine, these are from the The Big Alfie Out Of Doors Storybook by Shirley Hughes: Fallen Giant A big tree lying down is like a giant with torn-out roots instead of feet. It's like a ship sailing far out to sea, or a house with many rooms. It has places to hide and swing on and climb along. A big tree lying down is a good place to play. But you can never make it stand up again. Not ever. Creepy Crawly World Lift up a stone and you can see a creepy crawly world. You can watch the creepy crawlies hurrying about, busily moving on many legs, with strangely shaped bodies and feelers - for feeling their way along. in a creepy crawly world, a tiny piece of twig is like a giant log which has to be pushed, or pulled, or climbed over, or patiently gone round. Creepy crawlies don't mind how long it takes to get where they are going. But why they want to get there, nobody knows. Nona
Guest Wolfie
Oh, that's just the book that I was going to suggest - it's a lovely collection, loads to choose from in there!
Guest
Oh, this one's great... "I'm In Love With Mud" I'm in love with mud, It's sad, I know, but true. I just can't help but splash in it, Or stomp a path right through. It's sticky and it's dirty, And it covers all my clothes. But when I see it lying there, A voice inside me grows... ...You can't resist, you know I'm right, It's fun to play in mud! Look at it just sitting there, I really think you should! I splatter in the grimy gloop, I can't resist the ooze! I run, I jump, I stamp about, It drips into my shoes! ©2003 Gareth Lancaster There are lots more like it here.... http://www.fizzyfunnyfuzzy.com/index.php Nona
Guest
Can't remember where I got this recently, but think it was FSF! When we play outside today there's going to be lots to do When we play outside today we're sure to learn something new For everyone that goes there today will run and jump and climb in their play so we must all make sure we're dressed in the right clothes. When we play outside today there's going to be lots to do When we eplay outside today We're sure to learn something new Beneath the trees, where nobody sees We'll hide and seek as long as we please So we must all make sure we're dressed in the right clothes.
