Guest
Has anyone heard or seen the teachers channel. The information came to me via my NUT magazine. I have had a look on their website and it lists programmes coming up. On Wed 2-3pm Sky channel 592 there are 4 programmes for Early Years - Daily Routines, Using Puppets, Outdoor Environment and Young Learners. Website address is www. teachers.tv
Guest
Thanks for that, Gwen. I have seen a couple of programmes, but I don't have satellite TV and have to rely on my freeview set top box. Unfortunately the programmes only run after midnight on this channel and I'm useless with the old video recorder!

Guest
We're actually filming for the new teacher channel on Friday. It's a programme about the use of role play. We're creating a garage to link outside and inside role play- the garge shop will be inside. It's very exciting. The company making the programme are very EY friendly and taking a huge risk (trustingly) because we are going to see how the children develop the role play for programme 2. We've set up a studio as a role play for the children to get used to being filmed (Digital Blue). They are coming back in May to make a programme about the EEL project (Effective Early Learning). This will be showing the level of interaction between practitioners and children. I have to show apoor practitioner- I can't ask any of the team to do it so I will end up being on TV NOT engaging the children- I'm already fretting about this!!! It's a lot of work for us all but great to have the children captured on film with their amazing play. I'll let you all know how it goes.

AnonyMouse_2776
What a pity that it is not on BBC Two nor that one can see it online. I live in Europe and I do not have satellite . They seem very interesting topics.
Guest
Wow Lucyd that sounds fab! I'll bet the children will be fascinated with the whole process. How on earth did you get involved with it? I'll be really interested to hear how you get on. Maz

Guest
I was flicking through the future programme to be shown and thinking - nothing for FS when I saw the EY one listed. I think the programmes are going to be shown quite a few times at different times. I'm not sure, but think it might be on at 11 a.m. on Saturday - I definately want to watch it - will have to wrestle my husband for control of the remote!! Will look out with great interest for your programme Lucyd - it sounds really interesting. Will you let us know when it's on so we don't miss it? Guest
Wow, how exciting lucyd, What ideas have you got to pretend be a "bad" practitioner????? Peggy
Guest
We got involved through the LEA- 3 of the 4 EY programmes on this week are led by Shelia and Sue, EY inspector and advisor for my county. I haven't seen any of the programmes yet though! I'd love to hear what all of you think of them! Peggy, I think the "bad" practitioner bit will be me working with a small group but asking closed questions and not letting the children lead and expecting MY outcomes. Also prob. me talking too much!!!! Well I better go wash my hair for the cameras tomorrow!!!
