Guest Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 (edited) Hi there, What does everyone do regarding compassionate leave? Does anyone have a policy on paying staff for compassionate leave that they would be willing to share? Thank you Scottiedog Edited May 1, 2010 by scottiedog
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Hi scottiedog - I don't have a policy I'm afraid but it is something that I have done in the past and certainly would do again.......
AnonyMouse_1027 Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 you would think working for the local council they would have one wouldnt you? but no suck luck!!!!!
AnonyMouse_3735 Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 we didn't have one, but assessed each individually if and when the situation arose.. which was stated in our staffing policy we found adding to the staffing policy about how you would deal with it adequate rather than an individual one.. I do think we are all writing too many policies which could actually be incorporated into the same one.. perhaps something about assessing each individual case as it arose and being at the managers ( or committee or whatever is appropriate) discretion.. although we didn't get paid for time off we did work it out so some compassionate leave was paid for .. Guest Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Thanks, We have done that in the past, just judged as necessary. Friend just asked if we had one, You are right Inge, too many policies all round I think. Feels like every possibility has to be covered by a policy - 'Just in case!'
Guest jenpercy Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Oh yeah we have a policy about updating policieis!! And it doesn't say "Realise that policy is well out of date so change date at bottom and reprint" What MOI Never!!!!!
