People Who Help Us

Hi,

I wonder if any one can help me? I have just returned to teaching after long term sick. I was informed by HT that I am to be observed after the holiday in CLL. I had been thinking about a police station role play area. Has anybody got any ideas to inspire writing activities?

Thanks

Wow! your HT is a bit keen!!! No ease back into the job then.

Have you had a chance to vist a police station or get a police officer in to talk to the children?

I find after seeing the real thing and/or talking to a real police officer it gives the children ar better understanding and therefore a reason to write.

Do police officers still keep a little black notebook if so I would have lots of these around. Also last time I visited a school with a police role play it was a police cell and the children arrested me and put me into the cell. they then had to write a report of why I was in prison.

Children may have to write wanted posters there is a great video on teachers tv where the children are officers looking for the big bad wolf and they a have drawn pictures of the suspect and written what they look like.

I am sure many more folk will come with much better ideas!
