Guest
We've just had our fun day, some of our ideas were bean bag on heads filling up a bucket of water using a small cup space hopper race Hope they help
AnonyMouse_19782
When I was quite young I remember one of the races we had was the potato race. Potatoes were placed in strategic places down the course, the child had to collect the first potato and return with it to the bucket, then run up to the next one on the course, collect that and bring it back to their bucket, depending upon the stamina of your children you could decide how many things to collect and bring back to put in the bucket and how far they should run! There must also be lots of "non-competitive" races that can be executed where the child is trying to "race against themselves", how many times can they do something in 30 seconds etc., bursting balloons with their feet how quickly can they burst 5, how far they can throw a wellyboot, simple dressing up race. Guest
As above and we also had a competition to see who could throw foam javelins the furthest (only a few ended up in the audience!)
Guest
As above plus we use our Little Tike cars to race in. Also a hat race - straw hat, builders hat, police hat, cap, all set at intervals and the child runs along changing hats as they move along the course. Always a popular one which makes for some good photos.
AnonyMouse_705
We've used this one, but with bean bags and buckets or hoops. Children love it, and even 2 year olds can master it with a little bit of practice.

AnonyMouse_747
Hi We had a great adult and child race this year to finish our sports day Children ran with adult . They then had to select an item and wear it and run back. We had animal masks, garlands, handbags as well as the usual helmets and jackets. It was great fun and everyone got into it especially the dads. Still got a picture in my head of one rather big dad wearing a pink fluffy headband Glen
Guest
We completed a dressing up race this year scarves, hats and bags placed along a track and children have to put each item on before advancing to the next. Lost of fun and the children really enjoyed it!
Guest
Hi, Lots of great ideas. We had ours last week and also had a shopping race where they set off with a shopping basket and collect items along the way. Hugely popular was a horsey race using hula hoops with a child holding onto the front (the horse) and then a child holding on at the back (the rider). Also had a family race - a relay with plates of jelly. It was lots of fun.
