Outside Provision Risk Assessment For F1 + F2 In School

Hi there,

 

I wonder if anyone can help me. I work in F2 and have been asked to do a risk assessment for our outside provision and am struggling to come up with something I am happy/comfortable with. Should I do a daily risk assessment, which seems like another thing to remember to do!!!or do I write a blanket one and get all staff to sign it?

I would say that your daily risk assessment should include your outside area if the children are using it everyday

The nature of outside areas means they really do need a daily risk assessment, as in 'is the gate properly secured', 'have any animals soiled our digging area', and so on.

 

We have a simple tick list which just needs a minute or so to complete, and then we know everything is safe and secure.

I agree suzie you would of course make a full risk assessment and one aspect of that would be a daily check across the area to see if anything has changed. For example when I was in school our outdoor area was frequently visited by youths in the evening and so daily the caretaker would chack for beer cans, plastic bags, needles etc and we would also scan the area at the beginning of the day. It was not an onerous task once the main rtisk assessment had been completed.

I remember seeing an outdoor risk assessment somewhere. Has anybody know where I could get my hands on one. I like the idea of a tick sheet .
