Guest
Hi We are having a "book day" in school next Tuesday. Every class is taking a book/story from around the world and planning a range of activities from it. I work in a mixed YR/Y1 class. I have thought about doing Handa's Suprise, but was wondering if anyine had any other ideas about stories i could use. I am feeling a little uninspired today!!!!!! Thanks
Guest
I quite like Handa's Surprise and there are lots of activities you could do with it. Tasting unusual fruits, drawing them - inside and out, describing them - using all the senses. Making animal masks and retelling the stories. Finding out about the animals in the book, or about Africa in general. Maybe do some African dancing - wonder if you could find a rain dance or something. I'm sure you could find more than enough to fill a day ... or week.
