AnonyMouse_11396 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Hi looking at how toys have changed, penny wheel, bikes and trikes today. Can you look for old toy pictures on the computer to show the children how they may have altered. Also exploring what they were made of, wood, plastic, metal etc. Not sure where you are but the toy museum in Bethnal Green London has some interesting objects.
Guest Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 What about links to Toy Story film? It's a popular one at our nursery. Have a toy sale organised by the children to raise money; sorting toys according to their properties; setting up your own toy museum; writing letters to Santa; Thanking people for gifts; PSED -looking after toys
Guest Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 What about the story 'Threadbear' by Mick Inkpen - his squeaker doesn't work and Santa takes him to the land of the squeaker trees. Might be good for this time of year. The 'This is the bear' stories are also nice, good for rhyming words! Could also get children to talk about their own special toys and bring into show, maybe even some of their parents toys, could compare old and new. If you don't have one could also introduce a 'class pet' that the children take turns to take home with a diary. Kathryn
