AnonyMouse_26037
Hello, I'm looking for extra inspiration. My next PE unit for my YR/1 class is dance and I'm hoping to do some snowy/wintery/icy dance to go with it. I'm looking for music to inspire them. I've come up with a few so far but would love more ideas. The ones I have so far... 'Winter' from Vivaldi's Four seasons 'The Forest of Fir Trees in Winter' and 'Waltz of the snowflakes' both from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker. I'd like to get some non-classical stuff in there if at all possible too. Thanks for any ideas.

AnonyMouse_13453
Not a personal favourite, but what about 'walking in the air' from the snowman?
Guest
I did a winter dance with my year ones a couple of years ago and used The Snowman music, still trying to think of some contemporary music, will get back to you if I think of any
AnonyMouse_1195
'Winter Spirits' written by Katherine Hoover, who died in 1949 - is modern classical and unusual.
AnonyMouse_705
How about the Ski Sunday/Winter Olympics theme tune? "Pop Looks Bach" by Sam Fonteyn or it Pop goes Bach? I have used this as part of bringing stories to life, as part of the warm up to a snowy story. In a circle we did about 4 different actions, as the music changes such as skiing on the spot or skating in a cirlce.
AnonyMouse_26037
Thanks for all the suggestions - can't believe I didn't think of the Snowman - not a personal favourite either Cait - that may be why but I'm sure it will get them moving! Biccy - I love the Nutcracker too, watching and listening to it. Have you heard any of the dramatisation that's been on Radio 7 over Christmas? I haven't yet but it's on my iplayer favourites list after I've finished the Chronicles of Narnia!
