AnonyMouse_3735
ours was sticky labels so it did nto have to be re written... just stuck in LJ but we also did an A4 sheet with activity at top, and then divided into columns for child.. and comments.. and next step we could then have an overview of the activity, who accessed it.. etc.. only needed a word or two written which could be expanded if needed.. when set up in advance it didnt take long to write in a name and comment while doing the activity. they keyworkers then used this to add to folders, evaluation/ changes/ improvements / enhancements etc could be written on the back - we had one with speech bubbles on it too to record language during an activity which would be in the middle circle and the speech recorded around it.. we would often put a picture in the middle of the activity and display these for the parents.. Guest
Do you mean all 30 children participating at the same time in a 'full group' adult led activity? Could you explain what type of activity you are thinking of? Peggy
AnonyMouse_3735
good thinking Peggy.. we were assuming all children in smaller groups.. but in one large group we would have a second person recording during the activity... and doing the observing while supporting the staff member doing the activity... Guest
Depending on the type of activity, and what you want to gain from the observation would depend on the type of obs to use, ie: if, for example a PE activity, where you want to find out whether boys are more involved than girls, a tracking obs could record first boys movements, then girls and then be compared. So, it's about the aim of the obs to decide what method of obs to use. Peggy
Guest
I would not have 30 children partake in an activity because what have 30 children gained from all doing the same? their interests would all be different.
Guest tinkerbell
The 30 children partaking of the same activity could be working in small groups ,over the week ,eg all baking....they would all bring different experiences to the activity and the talking and sharing ,and the activity itself ,learning a new skill...they would all surely learn something? AnonyMouse_11396
I agree Tinkerbell, each child or small group certainly does bring own thoughts and ideas, and may use different processes to aide their learning. Even though the activity may be the same at its starting point. Thats where you get the uniqueness of each child and any obs made.
