Activities That Challenge?

Recommended Posts

Hi

we have a very bright child who has been at the nursery long-term. She is very bright and needs to be challenged through activities/play in order to prevent boredom setting in. As she has been with us for a long time she quite often gets fed up with the activities and resources that have been arranged and has now taken to bossing other children around!

Any help/advice or examples of activities to get her motivated, involved and thinking would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. have spoken to parents and they are also struggling at home with activities and television seems to be the most favourable option :o

Hi,

Its really difficult to make suggestions without knowing what her interests are and roughly where she is in terms of her development. :o

I shall also move this to another part of the forum where it might get seen more although the forum is particularly quiet at the moment whilst everyone gets back into the swing of things after Christmas. xD

Hi, when teaching I've always found that the best way to challenge a bright child is to encourage them to do a bit of teaching themselves. Could this child 'teach' something to some of the younger children?

Another good approach is to use provocations - a cat is stuck in the tree (put a cuddy toy up a tree), how do we get it down?
