AnonyMouse_7172
Just to let you know .... In my post yesterday at Nursery I recieved an invoice from 'businessbritannia' for advertsing on their online directory. The invoice was for £230.52 I have not booked this advertising and have never had any contact with the company. I looked their website up and ...there was my nursery advert lifted completely from my Yellow Pages advert. Smelling a rat I googled the company (googling 'business britannia proforma invoice' and found that medical practices in Kent had also been targeted by this company - and it's a scam. I've phone Trading Standards and reported it ... if you have also had a letter then report it (Trading Standards Consumer Direct 08454040506), don't pay it! Best of luck pw x

AnonyMouse_1469
My setting, on the other hand, has benefitted to the tune of £5 MILLION pounds, from a lady in Malaysia who ' is terminally ill and has decided to share her wealth with me. All I have to do is get in touch with her solicitor, giving him all my personal details, bank etc and the money is mine, with no catches'...................hmm, well a new scam is born every minute! AnonyMouse_8466
I only get spam about Viagra and Rolex, I suppose I could time.... No! There just has to be a joke there, but maybe I'll save that for another time! Like you Rea, I'd like to see anyone get money out of me at the moment. However it is amazing how many bigger companies might cough up the money, as Steve's link shows. Thanks PW for the heads up!
AnonyMouse_64
When a seemingly official letter arrives on your doorstep I guess some people automatically think its legitimate and pay up quickly and without question. I'm always much more cynical and would have to have the money prised from me. (Think Whoopi Goldberg in Ghost..... )
AnonyMouse_3139
Me too. I am always suspicious of letters on glossy paper, unfortunatly its how the bank correspond so I miss vital information, seemingly.

AnonyMouse_3139
If I havent asked for something I pop it back into tthe letter box and write on it in black marker pen 'NOT REQUESTED'. Junk mail seems to reduce after a while.
