Guest Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Hello everyone I would be interested please if you could let me know how you tackle this subject in your setting when teaching children to respect their bodies and themselves from abuse. thanks Sally
AnonyMouse_3139 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 We dont teach it we just model what is acceptable. Its OK to kiss Charlie if he wants it but if he doesnt you cant. Charlie needs to know that he's allowed to say 'no' too, and that goes for adults too, children are often told 'you cant say 'no' to an adult when they've asked you to do something'. Well actually they can and should know when its ok. Its an ongoing thing really with adults in the setting showing the right way to behave to each other and challenging anything we hear children saying in their play f it doesnt fit with the idea that we all have a voice and the right to our own space.
