Guest Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Hi Have recently extended from sessional to full daycare. Am finding the 7.30 - 9am and 4-5pm times outside the normal session hours challenging. As these sessions are "care " not education based was wondering how other nurseries manage these times. Suggestions on structure and activities would be much appreciated. We have a main room and baby room only as we are a small setting. Am trying to use the baby room for these times so they have time away from the main room. Activities, structure, toys etc ideas would be gratefully received. Sally
AnonyMouse_2418 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 We are open 7.30-6pm and tend to find that a few self selected activities along with breakfast and some time spent just chatting about what the children want to do with thier day in the morning fills that time, and after 4pm its tea ( at 4pm) table top activities and small group things like games, and the computers also work well at this time with less children around, plus teeth cleaning after breakfast and tea which also takes up time .
AnonyMouse_2418 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 forgot to say - our children do sometimes gravitate to the baby area but don't like the confines of the smaller space - so we tend to use our main rooms mostly - when the weather is warmer we also often go out in the garden again after tea for games and /or a bit of digging and planting/watering the garden.
