Guest Posted February 6, 2011 Share Posted February 6, 2011 Hi, we were told some years ago that outdoor sand pits should not be covered as the condensation formed on the inside of the lid contains a bacteria which can make children poorly. This info came from a advisory teacher but im struggling to see why so many places provide pits with lids if this is the case. Is this a Old Wifes Tale again ??? However, depending on size of sandpit, and thinking this may relate to plastic sand pits, how about putting in a piece of old sheet or towelling on top of the sane before the lid is put on to absorb most of the condensation, it can be removed each day ?
