Guest Posted February 9, 2011 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Hi there...my setting has just received permission to build a much needed extra classroom on ... we are actively fundraising for those little extras to relieve pressure on overstretched budgets ... do you have any great ideas 1- for involving parents in fundraising activities that have worked for you 2- the best fundraisers you have done ! Not trying to reinvent the wheel here but just garner some fresh ideas from lots of people out there who might be feeling the financial squeeeze too ! We used to borrow one from our local bowling alley but saved vouchers and now have our own. We make approximately £700.00 from this event annually, but more importantly the children have a great time. Wishing you every success whatever you decide to do. Guest LornaW Posted February 10, 2011 Share Posted February 10, 2011 We did a sponsored balloon flight. children bought helium filled balloons with a ticket on them saying this was a competitionen to see whose balloon would travel the furthest. We set them off at the same time and had a four week deadline and gave a prize to the balloon that travelled the furthest. We tracked all of the returned tickets on a big map and we made £600 from the event. Also spring fair, summer fair and firework night have all made lots of money between £2000 - £3000 but of course have lots more organising. Parents pay for a pack of labels, they price up nearly new stuff (often large baby items, ride on toys, etc.) and then we get 50% of the revenue. Last time we did it staff and parents filled the restaurant (admitedlly not that huge) and we had a great time. Can't remember how much we made but it was a lot for a 3/4 hour event.
