AnonyMouse_22106
We have the PLA Incident Book and it doesn't have a space for a parent to sign when you have told them their child has 'created' an incident. Question: Is this right, that the parent doesn't sign? Our Incident book is that old that it may have changed, and in which case I need to update ours! AnonyMouse_7356
We have the PLA Incident Book and it doesn't have a space for a parent to sign when you have told them their child has 'created' an incident. Question: Is this right, that the parent doesn't sign? Our Incident book is that old that it may have changed, and in which case I need to update ours! For this reason I went and devised my own. We now have accident and incident forms in one folder as I felt the one we had didn't have enough room to write things down. I am sure parents have to sign to say they have read it. Unless a parent refuses to sign it
Guest
I think it is best if parents do sign - it shows that you take communication seriously, that you have a system of logging important communication. It also provides protection against allegations that you are not sharing information.
AnonyMouse_7356
Our last ofsted inspection said they needed to be signed as some weren't ( before I started)
AnonyMouse_22106
I didn't think it was right not to sign, as there would be no point in recording really. That just goes to show how fab this forum is, where else would I have found the answer to that question?! Thank you everyone
Guest
Definitely parent's should sign - I've been looking at other settings Ofsted reports, and the fact that parents are not informed about accidents (in that they haven't signed accident form) is often mentioned as a negative. AnonyMouse_2418
Our parents sign both incident and accident reports, and they don't get collated and filed until a signature is aquired , the whole idea of them is for clarity and to make parenst aware of things that have occured with/to thier child whether in Nursery or elsewhere so why wouldn't you get them to sign ?
