Guest
The week before Fathers Day we are going to be having a 'Bring your Dad* to School' day (*uncle, grandad). I have been searching online for some ideas for activities. Has anyone got some good ideas that have worked really well. We are also a very small village school so don't have a lot of room. Any ideas would be really appreciated.
Guest
I haven't got the details at home, but there is a site called fathers week or something similar! Last year we did lots of den building outside - a great hit with everyone and a bit of a change! We also did some simple cooking which we will repeat this year - maybe pitta pizzas / biscuits? Good luck! Jenni
AnonyMouse_30128
we have done a boat challenge before...you have to make a boat from junk modelling and then float it across the water tray with a cargo of marshmallow....if it gets to the other end without sinking you get to eat the marshmallow! also something like pendulum painting and good old cars and trains/bricks
AnonyMouse_26037
I don't know anything about this but was sent this link the other week - thought it might be of some use. http://www.fathersstoryweek.org/
AnonyMouse_3401
We have done this for three years now. We have 320 children in our school and a 60 place nursery so we need to ensure the activity is suitable for every year group. I have to say if you give enough notice it is very popular. Ours is a men in school, male role model day so the children ncan have Dad's, Step dads, Grandad's brothers, Uncles etc. I think this means virtually all the children had a man working with them. We have quite alot of siblings so the older moves down to the younger sibling and so in Reception and Year 1 it got very busy...Year 1 used the hall in the end. We have had a build a car challenge, all shapes and sizes! A kite building challenge unfortunatley it rained so weren't able to test properly (except Early Years of course!) We wanted something different this year as both were creative activities and it got a little competitive. So this year we made books, we suggested the children (and their men) thought about what they were going to do first and brought any photos etc with them. It was a fantastic afternoon and the whole school felt alot calmer. The books produced across all the age range were fantastic, alot of thought had gone into them. Have fun S
