Key Workers And Home Visits

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hello lovely people,

Have just been planning out all our home visits for September and myself and the Nursery nurse will be attending all of them - although we split the children between us as our key children. The question is....do you think its better for the childs key worker to talk to the parents or play with the child? Both have a lot of merit but I can't decide which would be best. I really want to develop the role of keyworker this year - and really want the parents to feel able to approach them with anything...but its also really good for the child to get to know the keyworker too!

What do you think?

I would agree with Upsy Daisy, the child is the main focus for the Keyworker and that initial bond and relationship is what your aiming for. In home visits with my staff I have found that it they ( as the Keyworker) feel more comfortable engaging with the child, and it's easier for me, as manager to then talk to the parents and feed information back. :o
