Guest
Hi, I will be starting my NQT year in September in a FU with 26 children in reception and 26 children in nursery (But attending different sessions). I will be teaching nursery. Please can anyone tell me how they plan for nursery children who either attend mornings, afternoons or full days? If I do letters and sounds in am, then the afternoon children miss out...or do I repeat the session in the afternoon....do alternate weeks??? Any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks hi we do letters and sounds in small groups according to the needs and phase of the children in preschool. I plan the same activity for morning children as for afternoon children, so we repeat the activity but with a different group, which may also be a different size, depending on the needs of the children each session. So morning I have 4 groups, but in the afternoon I have only 3 groups, as i have no need for the 4th. If I have children in all day, sometimes they benefit from repeating an activity, but otherwise I plan something different for that small group to do in the pm. Hope that helps!
