Guest Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 (edited) Hi My school is going to be introducing literacy based around Pie Corbett methods. Could any one suggest some good websites or books that I could use to read up on this? The school has some books for use further up the school but we are looking for information on using this method in the foundaiton stage. Thanks Edited July 22, 2011 by Candy
Guest Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 If you mean the story telling/storymaking then you will find the following helpful: http://www.oldfieldparkinfants.co.uk/storymaking.htm http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bumper-Story-Telli...5859&sr=8-6 http://www.familystorymaking.org.uk/faq.php The international learning and research centre have also published a storymaking scheme which you can get if you phone them this is from reception through to Y6 I did a 2 day course on this for early years and have put it into practice this year and I love it we have learnt 5 stories by heart this year (I'm in reception) and their writing has been amazing. Guest Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Hi - When do you do this and how often? Do you read stories at other times too, as well as the ones teh chn are being taught to recite with actions? Hi we learn 1 story per half term and we recite the story every day for about 3- 4 weeks. I find a story lasts us a maximum of 4 weeks after that the children get bit fed up with it so for the other 2 weeks of the term I do something else like non fiction or poetry. 3 days of the week I start with reciting the story and then we continue with writing/drama/literacy activities and then other times we just recite the story. I do read lots of other stories as well throughout the week, not just the one we are learning. The children absolutely love telling the story and we do it all over the place, once learnt it only takes 5 minutes to tell the story so we often tell it while waiting in line for lunch, on the way to forest school etc Deb
AnonyMouse_4544 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 The best book is The Bumper Book of Story Telling into Writing at Key Stage 1 (covers reception too) http://www.school-portal.co.uk/GroupDownlo...ourceId=3803285 http://www.oldfieldparkinfants.co.uk/storymaking.htm http://www.devonldp.org/v.asp?level2id=391...p;folderid=1726 http://www.everybodywrites.org.uk/writing-...s-from-stories/
