My other baselines so far have been conducted by observations so I don't want anything too formal just a suggestion of resources to put out. Many Thanks in advance.
Guest Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Hi, I've been looking for similar ideas myself, but only came accross a suggetion that involves working with an adult, but the children enjoyed it and chose to do it. To assess 'more or less' we put out number cards and objects for counting out. The child did the first couple, then the adult had a go and only put 2 on the number 3 and asks if it is right, many children said no, you need one more/ another one. Then adult, determined to get it right this time, puts 5 on the number 4, again child explains that they need to take one away. It has given a good picture of who understands the concepts of one more/less, but I'd also be interested in chilid initiated activity ideas.
