Are you being observed just for child led activities? You could put some spider toys or laminated pictures in the water with a selection of drain pipes for children to independently act out the rhyme. Maybe you could provide a selection of clothing for the children to explore - focus on both rainy and sunny weather e.g. welly boots, umbrellas, sun hats. Could you put out some cardboard tubes as the drain pipes and black paint with mini beast toys for the children to create footprints up the pipe? Paper plates with hole punches and black wool for children to make holes and thread the wool to make spider legs? The children could either paint or collage the spiders afterwards and you could display them from the ceiling. You could put out pictures of various mini beasts with different amounts of legs/ some with and without wings etc for sorting and to stimulate discussion between children and staff. That's all I can think of at the moment but I hope it's some help! Beccy

AnonyMouse_3307
Lovely activities - but make sure you are clear what learning will be the underlying focus and how is this differentiated for your children at differing stages so the adults are targetting particular skills. Guest
How about adding some non-fiction spider books or images of spiders from the internet to the mark-making activity for inspiration. Also, if you have some, you could put out charcoal and white paper to allow for children's choice. They may not have seen white spiders but I bet they'll have seen black ones!
