AnonyMouse_1195
I have to go to a Maths network meeting and each school has to take a good idea for making a problem solving interactive display for Mathematics. The idea is we take one activity and then share them. Any good ideas?

Guest
maybe fill 5 0r 6 different ziplock bags with items like, cubes, coffee granules rice , flour, feathers, sand etc. 200g in each bag Encourage children to weigh them and find the heaviest - trick here is they all weigh the same so really gets the thinking juices flowing. As en extension they could do free play with weighing in sand or dough areas. I also encouraged mine to use a balance and try and find objects from around the classroom that weighed the same/made them balance

AnonyMouse_3139
Dont know if this is the kind of thing you could use but...Take a chicken, fox and bag of corn and get them all across the river without any being eaten. They can go across the river in a boat but one at a time. So do you take the fox first and leave the chicken to eat the corn, take the corn and leave the chicken to be eaten by the fox? And then how do you go back for one of the others without leaving the wrong one's on the other side? Take the chicken first. Go back for the fox and take him across the river. Take the chicken back and leave it on the bank while you take the corn across. Go back for the chicken. Hope thats clear and useful.
