Guest Posted November 15, 2011 Share Posted November 15, 2011 Hi all I am working in a new playgroup and really not sure of the answer to this question. We have been advised to link our planning to the EYFS development areas and we have used the development range 30 to 50 months in all areas I am not sure this is right or should we have put the learning goals as a guide as the children will be at different development ranges ??? We cover all these area as some children may fall into some of the younger and older brackets. Hope this helps. Guest Posted November 17, 2011 Share Posted November 17, 2011 we have an idea of what each stage of development the child is at we plan individually at then plot progress which may or may not be at the stage we anticipated. We have the planned activities, then we have 2 focused activities per week, the letters and sound activity and then we have room plans, outside plans to show where the activities go. Also we follow the childrens interests highlighted from the previous week. Just because we have the flag making out doesnt mean to say that a child of eg 24 months cannot access at activity it will just be that staff will be observing something different and not the actual planned statement. There is always the usual painitng, sticking, small world, dressing up jigsaws, construction etc out too. Hi Marley, I've recently started working at a preschool from being a childminder and I'm just trying to get to grip with how planning works in a preschool setting. Are these your short term plans?
