Helen
The Ofsted annual report is now available here Some interesting key findings: * The proportion of early years providers judged as good or outstanding for overall effectiveness increased from 68% to 74%. This suggests that the providers inspected in this third year of inspections have benefitted from more time to embed the EYFS. * Early years providers perform les well in relation to the effectiveness of the self-evaluation and their engagement with parents than in any other aspect of provision * The better providers have a planned and systematic approach to children's learning and development, particularly in the areas of CLL. In the best settings there is a concerted effort to plan more purposeful activity led by adults to develop children's language and communication, including their emerging skills for early reading and writing. * The three most common areas for actions following an inspection were safeguarding and welfare; maintaining effective records and documentation; and premises, environment and equipment * The report identifies two important drivers for improvement; commitment to professional development and external support and challenge for providers Happy reading
