'More complex skills' - how would YOU define this?

In the context of what age band? More complex skills for a 3 year would would be different to a 5 year old for example, and in what aspect of learning - again physical dexterity would be different to creative thinking.

The child is 40m and playing in the home corner; cooking (pouring and stirring pasta etc), washing and ironing. He tends to spend much of his time in this area.
