Holiday Club Activities

Hi

Well looking to tryand get some activities for Easter holidays and summer holidays. Just wondered if any of you hired people in to do activities?

Im looking at all sorts ie sport, science, film, animals, etc but they all cost a fortune!

Numbers are low during the holidays and trying to increase the numbers. However, not sure parents would want to be charged any extra for this (currently we are £19 for the whole day). Not really sure if school would be willing to fork out for these either (once they take club on)

Just wondered what others do?

Otherwise it could be a long six week holiday!

Thanks

we do activity ourselves we also do trips out e.g to the seaside, cinema etc etc. sometimes we get people in e.g if it is magic day we have someone come and do a magic workshop but we dont tend to have this as offtend because of the cost. we also have all sort of theme days, party days, craft days etc we charge £22 for a full day (7.30-6) £12.50 for half day (block of 5 hours) and £3.50 per hour with a min of 3 hour booking.

Hi sammy

Your visits to cinema etc..do you use public transport or have you got your own mini-bus. We are rural location and staff are too young to drive a minibus (even if we had one!). Suppose I could look into a taxi hire company etc

Thanks

hi we have 2 company people carriers but sometimes we will hire a mini bus if there are alot of children coming and use the cars aswell but we do have people who are old enough to drive the mini bus which is a bonus!

we also have forms for the parents to sign saying they allow the children to travel in the company cars and they are fully insured etc. also we have a car seat form where parents have to state the height of the children and if they need car seats

I have during summer holidays, got some tents and a cheap marquee (brought from car boot sales) and had a camping week. Each day we then did other ideas i.e making totem poles (junk modelling,) dream catchers, obstacle courses. Even got a member of staff to do a BBQ.

Just be sure not to charge for the private car journeys - insurance implications. Also check that insurance covers the use of private cars.
