Iep Writer

Recommended Posts

Hi we have just started using an IEP writer which is part of our school's SIMs system, we have until now always written them by hand on our own sheets. I have no idea if it cost anything or whether it came with the system the office used for data but will try to find out as I have to say it is brilliant. We were all skeptical about how a computerised IEP writer would work but it really does help as for every area of difficulty, you can click on the child's level of ability or area in FS and it suggests possible targets etc most importantly, it allows you to write your own targets if none of the targets were suitable. Will try and do some finding out for you

We used to use IEP writer and I found staff were just using the statements and not focussing on the individual needs of the child, it is just too easy to use their generic statements. I adapted the child friendly IEP's based on those in the book by Gillian Stotten by Lucky Duck Publishing. Having just checked the copywrite I can't post an example as they are still too similar to the ones in the box.

Designing your own is easier that buying a program?
