Guest
Just wondering if any of you could give me some information on becoming an Early Year's AST? I'm thinking that eventually I would like to work towards this, but am not sure how many year's experience, what requirements are etc. Had a look at the website and it was very case study led - I couldn't find any FAQs so thought I'd ask you lovely lot!!! Thanks D xxx

Guest
34972[/snapback] This is my first relpy and i have a funny feeling it's not going to work. Yes, Ye of little faith, when it comes to ICT. Well, I was interseted in your post gater. I too am eager to become an AST in Foundation stage. I have 4 years experiences in Reception & 2 in Yr1 (great for transisition, the hot topic of the moment). I am FS co-ordinator and already have been supporting FS teachers from other settings, set via my foundation stage advisor. When my head ask our advisor about AST status (she whole heartedly supports this route for me) She was told 'We are not taking any more AST's on in our LEA' and she also said that she was not aware of AST's at all in Foundation Stage. So, I'm of the understanding that it comes down to your LEA's individual perspective. I feel a little stuck now. I really love beening in the classroom and am happy to share my ideas and practice but feel they maybe no alternative than to go down the deputy head route!!!! AnonyMouse_3307
Teachernet has a wealth of info - either your LEA will have funding in which case you can apply, but if not then the only way is for your schol to fund it, from what i skim read this pm. more FAQ's on teachernet site http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/professionald...qs/howtobecome/
