Guest
I was just wondering if anyone is working alongside these areas/ headings already and would like to share any good practice, displays or information? Would this publication be worth buying? http://www.early-education.org.uk/publications-and-resources/1359
AnonyMouse_79
Sounds like an interesting read to me but I am not familiar with it or whether there would be anything new. Edited April 12, 2012 by Susan typo on phone
Guest
I don't know the publication, but was told at a recent conference (by Sue Rodd) to keep all the current EYFS cards, but especially the orange ones. These obviously focus on the characteristics of learning.

AnonyMouse_22029
Nancy Stewart (the author) was a speaker at a recent Early Ed talk. she was very interesting and easy to understand so I bought the book. I took the book to the setting and have not seen it since! It has been out on loan. However the feedback from my team is favourable and they are queuing to be the next for the book. It would appear that my team is finding it informative and I think was a great introduction the new format of Development Matters. Well worth getting! Guest lucyevans
http://eyfs.info/forums/topic/33534-new-faqs-on-the-foundation-years-website/ In additional to these judgments against the ELGs teachers will need to make an assessment against the 3 characteristics of effective learning. So, in total there will be the 17 ELG judgments on the basis of meeting, exceeding or emerging levels and a written statement setting out how well a child is developing against the 3 characteristics of effective learning. Further guidance on this matter will become available over the summer.
Guest
There were 3 good articles in Nursery World (February & March) each dealing with one of the characteristics of learning. Written by Jan Dubiel our staff have found them useful.
