SueFinanceManager
Hi all My brother sent me this, thought it might be useful to share with you Following the disaster in London . . . East Anglian Ambulance Service have launched a national "In case of Emergency ( ICE ) " campaign with the support of Falklands war hero Simon Weston. The idea is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency". In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It's so simple that everyone can do it. Please do. Please will you also email this to everybody in your address book, it won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc. Hope none of us ever need to use the scheme but thought it might be worth doing. Guest
I've done this and just one thing to point out is that if you give a mobile number that you phone or text regulaly you will have to get used to seeing ICE before the person's name, as obviously this comes up when they ring. I think its a great idea- only simple and most people do have mobiles on them now.

AnonyMouse_73
I had heard of this too and its a good idea. However, the sister of a friend was involved in the incidents in London and consequently was divorced from her belongings. She is fine now thankfully but there were many frantic calls to just about everyone she knew for several hours as the hospital were unable to ID her. Im just thinking you cant really beat having ID and emergency numbers on your person really as not everyone has their phone in theri pocket? I do, as do my family at all times.
