Guest
Hi all My NQT has a job interview on Friday and has been asked to prepare a short teaching task for a mixed ability F2 class. She needs to teach a 20 minute speaking and listening phonics whole class session. It also says that as part of her interview she "may be required to explain how your activity would support children with their learning throughout the day". It says that she will have the use of an IWB. The problem is we are a bit flummoxed about the 'speaking and listening phonics' and therefore not sure how to help her plan something. Help please. Any ideas??!
AnonyMouse_79
Blending and segmenting practice?
Guest
That was one of our thoughts, but considering the area where the school is (village location) it just doesn't seem to fit that they would want to see aspects of Phase 1 when the children are more than likely working at Phase 3 or 4. Guest
By saying a speaking and listening task could they just be meaning that they want a short carpet activity where the children are involved with sounding and blending verbally rather than a writing based activity. AnonyMouse_79
No, I wasnt thinking phase 1. But children blending and segmenting with a variety of phonemes. Sounds to me as if the children could be consolidating in phase4 in view of what you say. Look at some phase 4 activities that are oral rather than written and be creative?
