Guest
Hi all again-bet you are all fed up of me already!!! I am wanting a simple song to sing at the beginning of the day to welcome everyone, a song to sing before story time and a song for the end of the day. Any links to good websites, any ideas much appreciated. My little girl has being trying to teach me the ones she sings in reception but I can't pick up the tune!! AnonyMouse_79
Hi all again-bet you are all fed up of me already!!! Never, think that. Any links to good websites, any ideas much appreciated. Cant help with that one but do try a search on here as this has been discussed many times. Sometimes, finger rhymes and chants are appropriate which maybe what your little girl has been taught and have no specific tune.

AnonyMouse_3735
to settle down and before an activity or group thing we used the my hands rhyme here , substituting 'storytime' if it was for something else.. kids space printables opening and closing rhymes transition rhymes Good Morning Boogie Hello Neighbor, what do you say? (Children bow to each other) It's going to be a happy day. (Children clap hands together) So greet your neighbor, (Children give each other high fives) And boogie on down. (Children wiggle their hips) Give 'em a bump, (Children bump their hips together) and turn around. (Children turn around) Start the Day With a Smile This is the way we start the day Start the day, start the day, This is the way we start the day, So early in the morning. First we smile and shake a hand, Shake a hand, shake a hand, First we smile and shake a hand, So early in the morning. Then we sit down quietly, Quietly, quietly, Then we sit down quietly, So early in the morning. We listen very carefully, Carefully, carefully, We listen very carefully, So early in the morning. I found the individual ones or greeting took far too long to get round to all the group... so went for a good morning or hello to all style .. Guest
The reception class my son attended last year sang the tick tock song to start the day. They held their left arm horizontally across their body and their right arm goes up and down to the rhythm of the song. Add whichever names you want. It goes: Tick tock tick tock the clock goes tick tock tick tock tick tock it's time to say hello. Hello Peter, hello Joshua, hello Sarah It's time to say hello. Repeat as often as you want. Their was 60 children in the reception class so only a few were picked each day, just make sure they all get a go regularly. Clare
Guest pamgreen
The song that Jodie mentioned is on the cd hello dolly pepper a brilliant book and cd which helps teach music and is good for letters and sounds activities. It is good for adults without music knowledge you can get it from amazon

AnonyMouse_6795
We sing Hello............(child's name), Hello............(child's name), Hello............(child's name) and how are you today? Very simple but the children love it and it gets them to talk about how they are feeling.
