Guest Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Hi everyone, I had a question that I wanted to check out and wondered whether anyone could help me?? I have been updating our learning journals and observation formats. If I complete a group observation is it ok to to stick them in each child's learning journal even if they have other children's names on? We do currently stick photos in with other children with them? Thanks for any advice.
AnonyMouse_35577 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 We use initials and black out the faces of other children
AnonyMouse_13453 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 We never black out faces because we don't need to. It has caused upset in the past when children see their faces that way in other children's files. We have permission from parents to allow it, and it's nice for children to look at. We tend not to use other names in the written ob, by tailoring it so the child in question is the prime 'player' referring to others as 'another child' etc. 1

For observations we do similar and if the ob includes conversation bettween children we use child A, B etc
