AnonyMouse_44288 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Can anyone tell me do we have to offer sand and water inside and outside? We currently do however our rooms not huge and most children play with it outside rather than in!
AnonyMouse_35577 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 We dont always - but we do make sure that there is plenty of access wherever it is eg if it is outside and the weather is shocking we would move it back indoors. Remember too it doesnt always have to be a big sand or water tray you use - imaginative things can be done on a small scale!
AnonyMouse_21338 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 We dont! when we do have them we have sand outside / water inside or vice versa , and we sometimes dont have them at all .not sure if thats right or wrong ?
AnonyMouse_22628 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 We have both large covered sand pit and large water tray outside and smaller scale inside.
AnonyMouse_38881 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 we moved our sand and water outside at the end of the last school year. they are in our canopied area so accessible in all weathers. it made it possible to have a bigger area dedicated to Expressive Arts, and to have an area for messy on a tough spot on the floor. EY Advisor seems happy with it! 1
AnonyMouse_30128 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 we don't have sand inside because we have a wooden floor and it makes it really slippy. However i currently have water in three different forms outside and sand in two different areas outside because the children we have at present are really young and need access to sand and water all the time!!!
Guest Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I wanted to know if you 'have' to have sand and water both indoors and outdoors too. I find it hard to find space for both sand and water inside at the same time, I reckon we could manage a small tray of a water activity one week and sand activity the next week. Having said that sometimes we might have a tuff tray of tractors, stones etc in place of this tray meaning we haven't managed sand or water inside that week! We have both outside like everyone else but space isn't a problem outside!
AnonyMouse_29641 Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 My setting is smaller, but my sand has never been so used than since I moved it inside the summer house. It stays dry, draws the children outside and can be moved outside when the weather's nice. Inside outside. Honey
AnonyMouse_39602 Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 (edited) we have large sand pit outside where the kids can kick off there shoes and get right in- we also have portable sand tray which can be used in or out and the water tray , although when outside we let the children have watering cans etc and I bought some small spray bottles for £1 each and they loved spraying the sand. We have a lot of younger ones this term and they so enjoy sand and water, tomorrow we have tuff tray on floor with bulldozers, sand in tray and water so they can fill, carry, lift , mix etc we have wooden floors but put carpets and heavy duty sheets down and sweep any excess or get the children to do it - risk taking :1b Edited September 24, 2012 by lashes2508 1
AnonyMouse_42713 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 We have sand one week and water another indoors and alternate between. We sometimes put water outside. I don't know of any requirement to provide both in the same room.
