Guest
Hello! I am new to the forum I am trying to amend our current timetable F2 timetable as I feel it has become too structured! There are 2 teachers, 2 TAs and 45 full time children. I would be hugely grateful if people in similar settings could share their timetables. I am getting a headache trying to make sure I cover everything while allowing plenty of proper child initiated time Thank you so much!
Guest LornaW
Hi becks2407 I don't work in a school anymore but I do train teachers and below is an example of a timetable I recommend to folk. It is structured in one way but also ensures that at CI ytime all children and adults are playing together. have also mentioned on this forum a wonderful book called The Reception Year in Action http://www.amazon.co.uk/Reception-Year-Action-month-month/dp/0415618509 which is excellent and will give you the help you need to organise your day. MORNING ROUTINE 9.00 –9.10 Welcome time 9.10 -9.25 Whole class teacher directed in-put (Possible curriculum focus, shared text / shared writing / maths / knowledge and understanding of the world etc) 9.25 – 10.30 Child initiated work (Indoors and outdoors available. Children make choices, decisions and carry them out. Adults carry our observations and interact as appropriate with children. Progression/challenge built into planning as and when appropriate for individuals/groups) 10.30 –10.45 Tidy up time / Re-call (Opportunities for children to sort, match, take responsibility and co-operate while tidying away resources / re-call gives opportunities for memory development & communication, language and literacy e.g., remembering, explaining, listening, questioning, evaluating work. Self esteem is enhanced because children see that own, child initiated work is valued.) 10.45 – 11.00 Circle time and snack (Snack time enables children to work towards social, personal and emotional goals as well as great Communication time!) 11.00 –11.20 Teacher directed in-put. (Possible curriculum focus story, poetry, singing, guided reading, computer suite, hall time, guided reading etc ) 11.20 –11.40 Assembly in class 11.40 – 12.00 Whole class large group time such as singing, circle games, finger or brain gym, dough disco etc AFTERNOON ROUTINE 1.10 –1.20 Welcome time 1.20 –2.20 Child initiated work (Indoors and outdoors available. Children make choices, decisions and carry them out. Adults carry our observations and interact as appropriate with children. Progression/challenge built into planning as and when appropriate for individuals/groups) 2.20 –2.30 Tidy up time (Opportunities for children to sort, match, take responsibility and co-operate while tidying away resources) 2.30 – 2.45 Re-call (re-call gives opportunities for memory development & communication, language and literacy e.g., remembering, explaining, listening, questioning, evaluating work. SueFinanceManager
Hi becks2704 Firstly welcome to the forum Planning seems to be a bit of a conundrum for many practitioners and if you have a scroll though the forum area in which you made this post you will find other threads which will you will be able to relate to I am sure. When you look at the topic titles look out for the paper-clip sign suggesting there are documents included in the thread as this often indicates people have shared docs which could include their planning sheets for feedback or suggestions. If you are new here you may not have ventured into the 'Resource Library' This is a Aladdin's cave of shared documents and there are planning materials in there that you may be able to adapt for your purposes. I hope this helps, Sue
