Wow, had a look at this link and my brain is buzzing. Going out soon to buy some scrapbooks. What great ideas and examples.

Each of our four family groups has a floorbook - they have a planning meeting once a week and the children write what they wish to do in the creative area for the following week. Their ideas and interests are collated and provision is made for these experiences. SOme children decide that they don't want to do what they had planned for and others come along to join in anyway. We had floorbook training from Clare at Mindstretchers a few years ago. The floorbook is great but due to how our nursery is organised over sessions we have decided that we won't go down the project use but as a way of collating ideas for experiences the children want to happen. Their planning meeting is a lovely chance for children to talk and plan ahead as well as being an excellent vehicle to practice writing for a purpose. It is interesting to look back at the first entries and the last at the end of the summer to see this progress.

To stimulate ideas for the creative area we use a digital photo frame to show photos of the activities that could be done e.g. wire work, clay, paint, charcoals, collage, construction with natural materials etc.
