I am looking for some ideas for outdoor practical phonics activities for Reception children. Wondering if anyone has any fun and engaging practical blending and segmenting activity ideas that we could use in our outdoor classroom?

Any ideas would be really helpful. Thank you.

Not sure why you haven't had any answers - good question. Afraid I'm not qualified to answer you. Do go to the Forum Index and make a quick post in 'Introduce Yourself'. The Moderators will then come out in force.

Welcome from me.,

I think most activities in the letters and sounds document can be adapted for outdoors. Obvious choice but buried treasure game children could find laminated coin words in the sand and then put them in the treasure box or bin depending on whether they are words or non words. We use ribbons outside to practice letter formation and we also play a robot game where we give instructions in sound talk or robot talk as we call it and the children have to follow the robot instructions.
