AnonyMouse_26037 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Slightly off topic but I promise there is a link. My class have got enough whole class rewards to claim their class treat - they want a Teddy Bears Picnic. We've scheduled it for Thursday and are going to make honey buns tomorrow afternoon to go with it. Given the snow I thought that hot chocolate might be a nice accompaniment. While I'm an expert in making it for myself I've never made it for more than 2 - any hints or tips from you veterans of the art?! My nephew always requests 'hot chocolate warm' ever since a lecture about not touching hot things in case they burn! Quote
AnonyMouse_13453 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I use the 'just add hot water' chocolate. I put a few tablespoons of it in a jug, mix in to a creamy paste with a little cold water then pour boiling water into it and mix it up, then I pour old milk into it till it's the right temp for children Quote
SueFinanceManager Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 then I pour old milk into it till it's the right temp for children old milk....do they like it sour then??? I would try cold milk 1 Quote

AnonyMouse_26037 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Thank you! I did for a brief moment think it was some novel way of using up milk supplies! 2 Quote

AnonyMouse_19762 Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 Will I send you some Sox?  Quote
AnonyMouse_26037 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Still have lots of lovely stuff on the grass but paths are slushy and clearing. At lunchtime there was a glorious flurry of huge feathery flakes. I am sick of wellies and the extra time it takes together in and out of them though. Quote

SueFinanceManager Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Well we felt relieved when the weatherman said heavy rain Sunday but then last night he said we might get another heavy snow fall on Friday night   My poor golf clubs are feeling very neglected and I miss being out with my girlies in the fresh air gossiping and taking the weeks frustrations out on that little white ball Quote
AnonyMouse_13453 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Just looked at the ten day forcast and sadly none for us. My boys are very disappointed as Father Christmas brought them some sledges. We don't often get snow here near the East Coast of Yorkshire. When love going to Dalby Forest when it snows as there is a great hill to go sledging down. Do you get your Christmas trees in there too? If anyone is planning on sledging down our roof tonight, you have fair warning that the high winds could make it more challenging than usual. 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_19782 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Always up for a challenge Cait, please make sure you move the horse trough this time, I got terribly wet last year. 1 Quote

Sorry! Well the ice needed breaking anyway. Please be advised that the scaffolding is up on the west end this year for roof access as it's less windy in the lea of the gable Quote

I have a little boy who is 5 tomorrow (may have mentioned it once or twice today!) We had 'almost snow a couple of times today and he's been getting all confused. The first time he looked at it and then said "What day is it?" when he was told Wednesday he said it couldn't be snow because his mummy said it was going to snow on his birthday and his birthday was on Thursday. The second time we saw it there was lots of debate about whether it was snow or not and he said "I know it is because it's my birthday tomorrow and mummy said it was going to snow on my birthday." I am keeping my fingers crossed that we have some real snow tomorrow even if just for half an hour so he doesn't get all disappointed! It has been a challenging day - that made me smile! Quote
AnonyMouse_13453 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Ok, who's coming sledging? (This is Kirkstone Pass) Quote
Guest sn0wdr0p Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 We have always intended to get our tree from Dalby Forest Cait but we have never had the time before Christmas to go but now I am a lady of leisure who knows - maybe this year. Great disappointment this morning from my boys as the forecasted snow never came overnight. If there issnow in the forest on Sunday we are heading there with our sledges. Woo hoo weeeeeeee. Quote
AnonyMouse_13453 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Ooh fingers crossed for you! My sister always gets hers from Dalby. They use one of those huge mountain dogs to pull the sled with the tree on to the car. She loves it! Quote
