AnonyMouse_46158 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Does anyone know how we would go about sorting a day trip out? Looking to go at Easter. We have no transport so would have to hire self-drive minibuses or coach (anyone experience of either of these?) what insurance etc would we need? Read something about a minibus permit from DVLA/Local Council...Help!
Guest sn0wdr0p Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 We go out at least twice a week in the school holidays usually bowling, cinema, seaside or events that tie into our theme for the week. Fortunately for us we have a minibus and two staff who are qualified to drive it. Both myself and a staff member are old enough to have passed our driving test many moons ago but the rules changed in 1997 and you now need a separate test to be able to drive a minibus. There is plenty of guidance from the government at https://www.gov.uk/driving-a-minibus. Try phoning a hire company for more info.
AnonyMouse_11396 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 We normally do at least one large outing per year. We hire two coaches that have their own liability insurance. Works well for us.
AnonyMouse_3735 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 we always hired from company with drivers so all insurance etc was covered by them...
