AnonyMouse_39277
Does anyone have any information about how to plan weekly sessions to effectivly include 8 full time children mon, tue and wed morning and another 8 wed afternoon thur, fri. It's doing my head in trying to plan so that every area is covered but so that the fulltimers aren't repeating what they did in the morning session. Guest
We have full timers and to be honest we don't find it actress. We try and follow the children's interests and there is nothing wrong with the same activites being on offer both ends of the day. It enables the children to revisit and try out those new skills or new ideas. There should be enough going on that the children might try something different in the afternoon. Our afternooners are entirely different to the morning cohort too and so when with the same activities or similar ones are out they aren't used in the same way! Follow the children's interests and don't worry too much!
AnonyMouse_7120
I wouldn't get too hung up about planning diff things.....the ones doing all day will either choose to access the same activities again because they enjoyed them or not, you could also look at how to offer the same activity differently to meet different needs/abilities.....we tend to plan an extension activity that links to am planning, as long as you have resources/activities available that meet all areas and the children can easily access them through free choice you're offering what you should. ...and welcome to the forum sunnysmile

AnonyMouse_30128
80% of what they know and 20% different is our plan...so we will change a few things round or a percentage of what is out already...but like my esteemed friends have said if your provision is right then the children will access it in the way they need. Our 'planning' is based on what the children need to learn (eg improving fine motor skills or using prepositions etc) so then it is the adults who are responsible for this happening in whatever area the children are in. AnonyMouse_11396
Well in between reading your post and losing my reply, um I had said exactly the same as the above. Look at your continuous provision, then the child's interest and add enhancements to extend their learning. Hope this helps.
