We record assessments In all 7 areas using E, EE etc, how often do you assess?

is it emerging//expected/exceeding? like end of reception have to report? i'm nursery too. we record summative assessments on entry, in feb then july. bit out of sync with school who do end of each term. but they use our assessements as on entry. i hope!!!!!! by the time we have completed on entry it's half term and then it's silly, i feel, to see what progress they make in half a term. we all monitor through daily assessment/observations anyone who is not making enough progress, especially in prime areas. then put on IEP until advice sought so that in feb there are no surprises with children not doing well enough.....

We have been told that the only time to use emerging//expected/exceeding is at the end of year (also before moderation if you are being moderated). We were also told that Ofsted would question seeing it prior to the end of F2. We assess using development matters - ages and stages and update our data every term but obviously are assessing all the time......

i meant emerging/expected/exceeding in band they are working within! except we do emerging/consolidating/secure which is the same really ........

Speaking of observations and assessment, thought I'd look for some diff formats on some of the counties websites, there is some really useful resources on some counties and very current...my own is still offering up 2006 desirable outcomes !!! :o

I know the way of life here can be pretty slow but that's ridiculous :/

I agree as you can't be exceeding in anything until you get to the end of the development matters; what would exceeding 30 - 50 be for example, except something in 40 - 60+! And expected could only make sense in DM ages stages if referencing age related expectations, as to say a child was at expected in 30 - 50 when they were 60+ months old would mask underachievement.

Even the use of emerging, developing, securing doesn't exist in the frameworks!
