AnonyMouse_22574
Hi, I am a childminder and have been for the past 16 years. I completed a BA(Honours) Degree 2 years ago and whilst doing a lot of research came to the opinion that childminding would be a thing of the past within 10 years. That was 7 years ago and looks like with the introduction of agencies this will come true. Childminders play a very important role in the early years sector - parents want a warm, caring person to be hands on with their very young child. This warm environment is what encourages all areas of development. I have always worked with the child being central to all I do, I could write an essay on good practice but I won't be able to stop! I do not think agencies and all they entail are the way forward. I made the decision some time ago to leave childminding, the main reason being I need to work outside the home. I have been fortunate to be offered a position as a Community Nursery Nurse and wondered if anybody has any information on the role. I also have an interview for an Early Years Assessors position and again wondered if anyone has any information. Many Thanks happy4!
Guest
Hi Happy4, it does feel like the whole sector is having so much shake up and change, quite exhausting really. I have worked alongside a community nursery nurse and their role at the time was to work as part of a multi agency team offering play opportunities in the home and in the community and sometimes taking on some of the HV visitors work. Its really taking the play opportunities that children would access in an early years setting into the community and the homes of people/ families who for some reason or rather choose not to use early years settings for their children but may have been identified as needing intervention. Its a fascinating role with LOTS of hats to wear! All the best! x
