Guest Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Can anyone suggest a really meaty story book to read to a class of Reception children as part of an upcoming interview. The session is to last for around 15 minutes. I thought of using 'Winnie in winter' as there are lots of things to talk about in the illustrations.
Guest LornaW Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Bacchus123 I think the most important things are choose a book you love and know well and one that may be new to the children. I always like to read the whole book first then go back again and talk about it play with words and discuss the illustrations. I worry that we are so busy analysing text children loose the pleasure of just listening to a story! Goo luck with your interview. LornaW
Guest Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Is it a church school? We are a church school and as such are supposed to avoid references to witches so just be a bit careful. I do read the odd Winnie book as they are fab but probably wouldn't if I was being observed. Debx
